Durst, a manufacturer of digital printing equipment for the wide format graphics, photographic and ceramic tile markets has established a subsidiary in Canada – Durst Canada Inc. – and has acquired the assets and ongoing business of Rotoworx Systems Inc., a provider of finishing systems for the narrow web label industry.

Rotoworx Systems was established as an independent company in 2008 after several years of pioneering technology related to semi-rotary diecutting. A range of systems have been installed.

According to Per Frost, vice president for strategic planning at Durst and the new CEO of Durst Canada, “The acquisition of Rotoworx is a key element in our multi-year strategy of developing new, innovative digital solutions for a broad range of industrial printing markets.”

Utilizing its patented ISO-tensioning technology, Rotoworx products offer a modular approach that can feature semi-rotary diecutting, rotary diecutting, flexographic varnishing and coating, lamination, booklet insertion, and more.

Durst Canada is located in Dorval, a suburb of Montréal, QC, where the continued engineering and manufacturing of the Rotoworx products will take place. It is a subsidiary of Durst Phototechnik AG, a manufacturer of digital imaging systems for graphic, prepress, signage, commercial and retail display, packaging, industrial, and photographic applications. Headquarters is in Brixen, Italy.
